چکیده

This paper aims to present an intelligent information system developed for groundwater categorization and classification. The developed system integrates more than one research field and tools, including Decision Support Systems (DSS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), knowledge base and modeling and visualization enhancement. Visual Basic (VB) environment is used as an inference engine for this system and the code is written using VBA. The system aims to categorize water resources according to the international water quality criteria (FAO, USSL, Gupta and Roades) and to reclassify water resources according to a developed decision matrix from the application of the expert system. A user friendly interface (GUI) is developed to help the user to manage the system and to link different system environments. The system is linked through the GUI with a GIS to display the water resources layers and to provide functions to query and display the spatial locations and associated attributes. The system is used to make a decision about the suitability of water resources to a specific crop and vice versa. The developed system is tested on groundwater recourses in Siwa Oasis, Egypt.

GIS Assessment of site suitability for serial biological concentration (SBC) in Murrumbidgee in Australia

Researchers of CSIRO Land and Water in Griffith in Australia have found a way to repeatedly reuse drainage water to grow crops. In the process the system will concentrate the salt in the water to a manageable level which can then be used or stored in an environmentally friendly manner. The process, known as sequential biological concentration, is based on a novel system for Land, based treatmen...

Adaptive Protection Based on Intelligent Distribution Networks with the Help of Network Factorization in the Presence of Distributed Generation Resources

Factorizing a system is one of the best ways to make a system intelligent. Factorizing the protection system, providing the right connecting agents, and transmitting the information faster and more reliably can improve the performance of a protection system and maintain system reliability against distributed generation resources. This study presents a new method for coordinating network protect...

Assessment of Groundwater Quality for Industrial Purposes Using Geographical Information System (GIS) in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran

Introduction: Water quality is essential for industries because they play an important role in countries’ economic development. Groundwater is one of the most widely used resources, and when the ionic constituents were increasing higher than the allowable limit, it increases the cost of maintenance and production in the industries. Materials and Methods: In order to evaluate groundwater corros...

AN INTELLIGENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR FUZZY ADDITIVE MODELLING (HYDROLOGICAL RISK APPLICATION)

In this paper we propose and construct Fuzzy Algebraic Additive Model, for the estimation of risk in various fields of human activities or nature’s behavior. Though the proposed model is useful in a wide range of scientific fields, it was designed for to torrential risk evaluation in the area of river Evros. Clearly the model’s performance improves when the number of parameters and the actual d...

Groundwater potentiality through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS)

Nowadays the use of remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) is one of the most powerful cost effective tools to identify and discover the available groundwater resources. In this paper, Lithological Units, Lineaments, Slope, Topography, Drainage density, Vegetation and Isohyets lines have been achieved by stations and through remote sensing and GIS techniques. All layers of diffe...
